How to view a .docx file if you don’t have MS Office 2007

This happend to me not to long ago. My family was putting together a tribute to my grandmother who passed away and they sent me a file “.docx”. I knew there would be trouble when I saw the file name and I got even more concerned when there was not program associated with the file. I had tried to open the file in both MS Office 2000 and OpenOffice 2 but no luck. So, I did what any computer savy person would do, I Googled “convert .docx for office 2000” and came accross this link to the ‘Microsoft Compatibility Pack‘. This pack allows you to open Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 file formats in older versions of Office all the way back to Office 2000.

It is a lifesaver for those who still have to upgrade, or just don’t want to. I have already told 4-5 people about it in person so I figured that I would put it online for everyone.
